School Reading as Compared to Summer Reading

School tends to be the place where I get most of my reading in.  I don't read very much at home unless i am reading a very good book, like if I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens at the end of a book.  Therefore, the time I get to read in school is my main source of reading.  This year, I have read the equivelant of around 35-40 books (in Ms. Bal's class 150 pages = 1 book), and some of these were very great and captivating.  Some of the books I have read this year are the Hunger Games series by: Suzanne Collins, some of the Warriors series by: Erin Hunter, two mythology books by" Rick Riordon, and many more.

The main difference of my summer reading and my school reading is the amount I read.  I do not read that much during the summer; a lesser amount of daily summer reading than the normal school day.  I normally read a maximum of 3 books during the summer, so our summer reading assignment might be a little challenging for me.  The books I read in the summer can be anything.  Perhaps a book I did not finish from the school year or a continuation of a series I am interested in.  Whatever it may be,  I do enjoy to read during the summer, and the requirement of summer reading will most likely inspire me to read more often.

The books I plan to read over the summer are The Warrior Heir and Savvy  from the list and The Throne of Fire by: Rick Riordon for my challenge book.  Who knows, I may even read more than the required 3!  I have heard great things about these books and I can't wait to read them.  I probably would not have picked some of them off of a shelf to read, but the book list branches out to me with new books I would never have read otherwise.  I look forward to my summer of reading and hope it will be a enjoyable experience for me and my classmates.

  1. Nathan, I can't add your blog to my summer reading list. You may want to check your settings or add my blogsite: tksteacher.blogspot.com/. Glad to hear you may be inspired by this summer reading assignment. I found that I like Rick Riordon myself! I think The Red Pyramid is the only one of his that I have read but would like to try another. Happy Reading!
